What is SteekR?
SteekR is the easiest way to share files on the web. As soon as you sign up, you can upload files using either the web or via the SteekR client software. Files uploaded to you account can be accessed from anywhere using your login and password, and you can share SteekR access links for specific files by email or IM.
How can I signup SteekR ?
Just go to the subscription page of http://www.steekr.com.
Is SteekR free?
The basic 1GB SteekR account is free, no strings attached.
What if I want more than basic account?
You can order up to a 100GB account on the subscription page.
I would like to change my login and/or my password?
You can change your login information by clicking on the Settings tab in the user area.
Can I upload using an FTP client or another protocol?
No. To upload files to your steekR account, you can either:
- Use the SteekR website, either with the Java drag-and-drop plug-in or with the classic web page upload.
- Download and install the SteekR Drive (uploader and scheduler) for Windows or Mac OS.
- Download and install the SteekR DriveDrive (network drive) for Windows.
These methods are in many ways more convenient than regular FTP clients and are better integrated with your Windows or Mac system.
How can I recover a deleted file?
Deleted files are not instantly removed, but are placed in the Trash folder.
The Trash folder is located at the top level of your SteekR folder tree. To recover deleted files, navigate to the Trash folder, select the files you want to recover and hit Restore.
The “drop files here” box disappeared! Why?
There are a few possible situations that prevent “drop files here” box from working:
Files cannot be uploaded files directly at the root of your steekR space. Navigate to any of the default sub-folders, or create a new folder and open it.
You may have disabled Java features in your browser. Please visit this page for help on enabling the Java plug-in on your browser http://www.java.com/en/download/help/5000020500.xml
If you cannot bring back the “drop files here” upload box, please try uploading with the classic SteekR website.
Can I use SteekR on Mac OS?
